Sir,, pl dont misunderstand me but the thing is…I WAS ASKING YOU TO TEACH ME HEBREW. I’m from India.
Since my name is Shalom,,,i’m getting highly confused..as to whether the post is addressed to me or just my name is used as a greeting!
thank you.
Shalom
Shalom Shalom, is translated to Hi Shalom (your name) or Shalom (your name) hi. In this case shalom is a name and also a greeting.
Highly Distinguished Sir (Eran Shorr),
Shalom!
Your reply made me jump and dance with joy….
Thank God…for He has granted my desire to learn Hebrew.
I’m a very beginner..and my only source is the internet.
I managed to learn a few words like HA-SHEM, SHEMA ISRAEL, KELEV..etc from the internet.
Its a pity that there are no Hebrew speakers in my city,Vishakhapatnam, India.
But that cannot stop me from learning Hebrew…if only you,Sir, teach me.
Its really a great vision and mission you have had towards all the diligent students who earnestly want to learn Hebrew.
In this way,,you are bringing glory to Hasheem throughout the world.
Awaiting your reply.
yours faithfully,
Shalom.(my name)

SHALOM TO ALL OF YOU
Aleichm = on to you
The “k” or “ch” or “h” are different forms of the transliteration of the letter “chaf”. It does not have an equivalent sound in English. If you want to learn the correct pronunciation, I suggest you take the Hebrew lessons online where the teacher will sound it to you.
The song you want me to transliterate is “The Song Of Ascents” from the book of Psalms , and yes, much of your transliteration is not correct. The transliteration will not teach you how to pronounce it correctly because English is very different from Hebrew. However, if you take a number of lessons with us online, you will be able to read it, and pronounce it in its original language.
SHALOM ALEICHEM
Respected Sir,
I’m from India. I’m from a non-Jewish atmosphere. But i’m named a Jewish name by my mother out of love for Israel.
I want to sincerely learn Hebrew in such a level that i can speak the language as fluently and promptly as my mother tongue.
Right now i’m doing my post graduation in English (here, in India). I know that for learning any language, student effort is crucial.I would sincerely put in my efforts under guidance.
I have Danny Ben Gigi’s HEBREW FOR THE VERY BEGINNER book with me.
You suggest me some home work
I tried to watch a few movies but for now i got to be satisfied with videos available in you tube…..most of whose meaning and significance i cannot comprehend…..like Rahem by bennjhamin.
by the way…..i heard that the Jewish day begins after sunset. is it true?
Toda raba for the reply
Yours Sincerely
Shalom(my name)

SHALOM ALEICHEM
sir, is shema and sh’ma one and the same?
Yes, but do not learn Hebrew from transliteration.
You may hear a difference between the correct way it should be said, and the common way spoken by many Israelis. – We do cover it in our lessons when you can hear the difference in the pronunciation.
SHALOM
Sir, Good day to you
I’m not learning Hebrew from transliteration or from
anybody, for that matter
i’m busy working for the fee.
I keep listening to the Jewish songs posted in YouTube
so that i get used to the sounds in Hebrew.
Its so different….yet appears to be familiar..
like the word Adam, David, etc are pronounced the same way in Hebrew and in Telugu, my mother tongue. The English pronunciation is noticeably different
it surprised me much.

We do not give a certificate, but we have prepared people to take Hebrew placement exams.

what exactly is a hebrew placement exam?
the thing is, when i learn hebrew, i can write it in my resume. here in my country, a certificate confirming the same is essential.
Many institutions give placement exams to see your Hebrew level. This gives them the tools to place you in the appropriate class or job.
We can give you a certificate to indicate the work you have done with us.
